What is single-ply TPO? Polisystem is not a bitumen product although it is fully compatible and can be used to overlay a failed bitumen roof. TPO is flexible, recyclable polymer. It is made from polypropylene, which is the same as is used to make margarine tubs. It gives off no toxic fumes when used and will not break down into poisonous chemicals at the end of its useful life.

TPO membranes combine the properties of other roofing materials, such as EPDM and PVC, but without the associated drawbacks that the latter two have. Our TPO membranes are more UV resistant than competing EPDM (rubber) systems and environmentally unfriendly PVC alternatives. Advantages of a Polisystem SA Roof Garden

IMPROVED ENVIRONMENT and air quality Reduction of self-generated hydrocarbons in city areas, natural carbon dioxide absorption and removal system, and increased wildlife habitat. Green roofs reduce the ‘Heat Island’ effect: the difference in temperature between urban areas and surrounding countryside and the main cause of ozone production.
